2010
-2011 Roll on 2012
I wonder if there
is any truth, in this Mayan calendar prophesy theory? I
have once again been reminded of it by watching a very well
put together TV Documentary. The presenter claims that with
out a doubt, something very global, and very destructive,
will happen in 2012? My personal belief is that we should
just try and live one day at a time, “for who knows
what the morrow brings” A word has been going round
and around in my head these last days, and as we are nearing
the end of our year, I would like share these thoughts with
you. The word is “Destiny” what is destiny?
“Destiny
refers to a predetermined course of events. It may be conceived
as a predetermined future, whether in general or of an individual.
It is a concept based on the belief that there is a fixed
natural order to the cosmos. Destiny refers to a predetermined
course of events. It may be conceived as a predetermined
future, whether in general or of an individual. It is a
concept based on the belief that there is a fixed natural
order to the cosmos.
Is there such
a thing as destiny, is it tied to predestination; this subject
can probably never be exhausted, because the questions are
endless. I look and see a poor African person, being born
with a black skin, poor and living in the heart of Africa,
and I ask what chance does he or she have in life, they
cannot even obtain a passport, never mind the means to travel,
and if they can, no one will have them! Is it their Destiny”
to be born black, and in Africa? Is it the Destiny of the
young man or woman, born with the “silver spoon”,
to white privileged, rich educated parents, in down town
oxford, or Cambridge? A good friend of mine has difficulties
to have a child with his wife, they eventually manage and
a wonderful son is born, only to die at three years old,
from a very painful and rare disease, was that destiny,
fate? Another couple I know, (I could go on for ever with
examples) living together, having a wonderful life, happily
married, and then one day after the other, it all ends,
this happened to many of my close friends this year, “Destiny,
Fate,??”
Would it make
any difference, to our lives, if we knew the answers or
not? For those who have a more intellectual perspective
of life, it would change things, but I guess that the end
of the day for most of us, life goes on. That does not sound
like much hope, does it!
My conclusion
is that yes, there is such a thing as Destiny, or Fate,
for example it is every ones destiny to die one day or another,
no question about it. So the way I see it, and this is my
new years update to this my web site, is quoting Dr. Francis
Schaffer, “how then should we live” Believing
in Destiny or not believing! As I have said, one day at
a time, ahhh here come the preverbal “but.”
If we do decide to just go with the flow, and live one day
at a time, we still have to make decisions, wake up, get
up, wash, eat drink, and face the world. It is these decisions
that can determine our fate, or destiny.
I believe if
we live right, we will reap right, if we give the right
energy, love, peace, kindness, generosity to the world we
will reap the benefits. Even though we may be surrounded
by other negative energy and people, people who do not believe
in the same convictions as you, If we are consistent in
our belief, of “doing the right thing,” we will
overcome, and win our prize. Now here is the dilemma, “what
is the right thing?” What is the right way to live?
I believe it is not very complicated, there are guidelines,
social norms, and responsibilities that we “know”
we have to adhere to, for example we should not steal we
should not kill, etc. Then there are the smaller grey areas,
but at the end of the day within the social structure, we
do know what they are. We know that we have to live and
interact with our neighbours, and people around us, we have
to be tolerant, and respective, we have to dress, and wash,
and shave, and be at minimum, presentable before society,
what we say, how we interact. Social history has taught
us, that we reap what we sow, that there are certain standards
that we have to respect in society. I once came across some
people who choose to present themselves as “white
trash” before society. The way they dressed, the tattoos
all over their bodies, the language they used, their choice
of ignorance! Well for me it was clear, these people choose
this road to go down, but they should realize that people
will see them for what they are, and react accordingly.
If you present your self as someone nice, kind friendly,
clean cut, well dressed, then people will receive you and
react, accordingly, usually in the same manner. If you present
your self as a baba-cool, dirty, tattooed, hippy dresser
person, to society, well it is just natural that people
will receive you accordingly! One person told me he was
fed up because people judged him by his outside appearance,
how ignorant he was!
And here I come
to my point of this letter!
We all have a
responsibility and choice of how we should live. We can
choose to close our eyes and be ignorant, we can choose
to be egotistical, and live “the way we want to live,”
regardless of what others think, we can choose to be bad,
stealing, lying, deceiving others, there are so many lifestyles
we can choose to live. Or we can choose to live decent honest
lives, being honest, kind, generous, truthful, patient,
tolerant, respectful, etc. This year I have come across
people who presented themselves in such a way that I can
only describe as, egotistical, stupid and ignorant, reacting
in such a negative and destructive way, that I am sure if
challenged they would see the wrongs of their ways, but
no they choose “not to see” because of their
own many reasons, but the end results are destructive and
evil. So the message here from my own experience, is to
do the right thing, live a good life, consider others, be
honest, kind, generous, and forgiving. Study to show your
self approved, for the only way we will ever know, is by
learning, and the only way we can learn, is to study, with
open eyes, and an open heart. I humbly choose to try and
be a better person, to study, to know more and more, about
truth, justice and our responsibility in society, and before
God, as I personally want a better world for every one,
including myself.
It is with
the Peace and Love of God that I greet you all at the end
of this year 2010.
The Long Count
Calendar of the Ancient Mayans ends on Dec 21 2012. There
isn't much information regarding what the Mayans thought
would occur in 2012, but the consensus of opinion is that
there will be great change. To some people this means a
positive, spiritual change. Others, like myself, consider
that a catastrophic event may have been predicted.
The date December
21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents
an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun
with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator
of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what
that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is
an event that has been coming to
resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years.
It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT.
